This beautiful family of four just recently added one more, and she couldn’t be sweeter!  Although this baby girl was already 4 weeks old before we were able to schedule her ‘newborn’ session, these photographs are sure to be images this family will treasure forever.

We tried every trick I could think of to get her to sleep so we could pose her, but this nosy little girl wanted nothing to do with it! She was too interested in what was going on, but at least she seemed to be enjoying it too – she even gave mom her first giggle in response to some silly sounds!

To the Clancy family, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture these images for you. I hope they bring you joy for years to come!

Is this not the most stinkin’ cute grin you have ever seen?? Talk about a handsome devil! It is always a pleasure to photograph this family, and this time I was especially thrilled to learn 2 year old L is going to be a big brother in a few weeks! I am super excited to meet his little sister and to take her newborn photographs!

I had such a fun time photographing this family at Borderland State Park! We had to reschedule the session a couple times due to bad weather, but I’m so glad we did! It was an absolutely perfect day.
This is the second session I’ve photographed with the family – the first time was one of my Picture Outings (also at Borderland) – and I’m so glad to have the chance to meet up with them again. I love to see how much the children change each time I see them! This guy was just a baby when I first met him – now look who’s a big boy!!

The first wedding of 2012 turned out to be an absolutely beautiful spring day, and I was so thrilled to photograph Quinn and Richard’s wedding in Providence. My day started out at the Renaissance Hotel where the bride and her girls were all getting ready. I grabbed some detail shots, including these adorable blue shoes that the bride wore and this cute little flask (which came in handy to calm some of those pre-ceremony jitters on the way to the wedding!)

The bride’s brother arrived just after she had finished getting dressed, and it was just such an amazing moment!

Finally some last minute details and the bride was ready to go. She was absolutely stunning!

The bride had mentioned that she wanted to get a photo like the cover of the Bridesmaids movie. I thought it was such a fun idea, and when we found this wall painted to look like graffiti in the Temple Restaurant at the Renaissance Hotel, we knew this was the perfect spot!

While I was busy taking photos with the girls, the very talented Jaclyn Lombardo met with the groomsmen to grab a few photos as well. Unfortunately, the groom was having a few issues tying the bow tie, but thanks to modern technology and a quick You Tube tutorial, a wardrobe catastrophe was averted!

The bride really wanted to capture the look on the groom’s face as she was walking down the aisle. I think this says it all.

The ceremony was held at the First Unitarian Church on Benevolant Street. Jaclyn was able to go up into the balcony to get this stunning shot. I thought it was a very beautiful and airy church.

The happy newly-married couple as they are exiting the church. This is always one of my favorite photos because of the pure joy on the couple’s faces.

Following the ceremony, we headed over to the State House for some portraits before the reception. The weather forecasted afternoon thunderstorms, but there were none in sight on this picture perfect day.

I seriously wanted to eat the candy dots on this wedding cake!! It looked so delicious! From Wright’s Dairy Farm – one of my favorites!

And a surprise song from the bride’s great aunt. It was a very sweet moment!

The bride and groom snuck outside for a quick photo in front of the state house, which looked beautiful with the lights shining on it. The clouds were also nice and dramatic!!

And the celebration was underway! This is the second time I’ve photographed a reception that was emceed by Just Juli Events, and neither one has disappointed!! She is seriously so much fun and she does a fantastic job getting the crowd going!

Quinn and Richard, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day! It was so much fun and I hope the photos provide you with years of memories!

I’m a bit behind on posting this information, but I’ve finally got a couple days available for Spring Picture Outings!

If you aren’t familiar with the Picture Outings I’ve held in the past, they are a fantastic way to get beautiful photos of your family while spending time quality time together! The sessions I have planned this Spring will be held at Borderland State Park (always a favorite!) and at a beach location in Sandwich (which looks like it is going to be quite a popular session, so please RSVP early if you would like to join me for this one!)

The outings will be 1 hour sessions, shared between 2-4 families (depending on the number and ages of the children). Its a great way to make new friends or make plans with ones you already know! We’ll have just enough time to move around to a few different locations to get more variety in your images.

Session Fee: $75

Approximately 30 images in a private password-protected gallery

I will do my best to plan the schedule to accommodate everyone’s needs and match families together so that it will be fun for everyone and we can make the most of the time. I will then send you a link to book the appointment and pay the session fee. Sessions must be paid in advance in order to reserve your space.

In the case of inclement weather, I will try to reschedule a rain date for Sunday or refunds will be given.

New England winters are not usually this mild, but I’m not complaining!! The day that I photographed this Needham family was particularly beautiful, and we took full advantage of being able to go outside without our coats on!

Of course, we started off inside so we could document some of the details of baby M’s room. I always think that’s one of the biggest reasons to have baby photos taken in your home. Kids’ bedrooms change just as quickly as the chidren themselves. Its a great opportunity to freeze the moment in time so you can look back fondly on the toys and decor that were once so much a part of your lives.

This baby is destined to be a Penguins fan, even though he lives in Massachusetts. The family is originally from Pennsylvania, so I guess we can’t fault them for it!

It was so nice to be able to get outside in February for these photos! The light is so pretty in the winter when the sun is lower in the sky, and the fresh air helped us get a few more giggles out of a tired little boy.

You may have noticed some changes to the Reiley Photography logo and blog lately. I’ve been keeping quiet about the updates, waiting until I could fully implement the new brand, but I’m happy to announce that time has finally arrived! This past weekend the new website for Reiley Photography was launched chock-full of updated photos! If you have a chance to check it out, please leave me a comment below! I’d love to hear what you think!

Updating the brand was necessary because over the next few months I plan to formally include wedding photography to my list of services. (You may have already noticed I’ve posted a few weddings from last year and that I’ve been working as a second shooter for some of my friends.) My old logo and brand identity was much too baby- and family-focused to work for the wedding market. I debated heavily about whether or not to keep my brand and simply add a new wedding line — however keeping two different brands (two logos, two sets of business cards, two websites, etc.) was not something I wanted to maintain going forward.

I had a hard time abandoning my old logo though because the icon was my son Owen’s actual handprint. We lost Owen just two weeks before his due date and he was my inspiration for starting my photography business. I often said that Owen literally touches everything that I do. But as time has passed and life has changed, it is time for my logo to move on as well.

I wanted my new brand to be elegant enough for weddings, yet still comfortable enough for families. I wanted it to reflect my style – simple, down to earth, hand-crafted… I wanted the design to enhance the presentation of the photos, but not distract from them.
Most importantly, I still wanted it to honor Owen’s spirit.

I’m so pleased with the new design!  The dragonfly has been a personal symbol for Owen to my family, so I think it is the perfect way to honor him and I am excited to be moving forward in new directions. I would love to hear what you think of everything!

When my good friend Chrissy told me she and Paul were getting married in Las Vegas, I was not the least bit surprised. She’s always been one to do things a little unconventionally, but that’s why everyone loves her! And when she told me they were going to hire an Elvis impersonator, I was beyond thrilled that I would get to be their photographer!

This is the view from Chrissy and Paul’s hotel room. Isn’t it amazing! They had a perfect view of the fountains at the Bellagio and Paris on the right.

Like I said, Chrissy is not one for tradition, so why would her shoes be? Chuck Taylors have always been her signature style, and they counted as her “something blue” – not to mention they fit with the Elvis theme (Blue Suede Shoes!)

I don’t know who was more excited waiting for Elvis to arrive at the hotel – the bride and groom or me! The best part was, I got to ride shotgun so I could take pictures on the way to the chapel. Elvis played some of his best songs on a small boombox on the front seat (since the vintage Pink Cadillac did not come equipped with a CD/MP3 player), and he sang along the entire ride over. It was so much fun to see everyone on the street pointing and looking at Elvis as we drove down the strip.

We arrived at the chapel and all of Chrissy and Paul’s friends and family were there waiting to see them. It was just so fun and campy, everyone was having such a great time!

Elvis didn’t actually perform the ceremony, but he did give his blessing to the bride and groom and performed a couple songs for everyone. I wasn’t allowed to take photographs during the ceremony (the chapel has its own photographer), but I did get some shots of the bride and groom at the alter. Isn’t Paul’s shirt great?

All that singing and driving must have worn Elvis out because I caught him taking a cat nap after the ceremony.

Chrissy and Paul, thanks for inviting me to Vegas for your big day! It was so much fun and such an amazing experience to be a part of!

Last summer I was invited to photograph a family reunion in Kingston, MA. I think its awesome when families like this one, who live in different parts of the world, are able to get together with all of their children. What a great memory to preserve and share for generations to come!

On this particular day, the skies were ominous, but we were incredibly lucky to be able to do the entire photo shoot outside, and really made for some beautiful colors! Literally though, the moment I backed up out of the driveway to go home, the skies opened up with one of the summer’s strongest thunderstorms!

These photos sure are a contrast from the cold, blustery morning outside my window! I know I should be more on top of my blogging, but it is a nice change to view images of summer and this family session at Lars Anderson Park is no exception!

Of course, its also good to move into the shade for a family photo without the sunglasses!

After enduring lots of family pictures in the mid-day heat, the kiddos got rewarded with a visit to the playground. I think the action photos of the kids at play will be some of the most cherished images!
